WARNING:
The adhesive used on these decals/overlays is
meant for permanent installation, and they cannot be removed and re-used.
Removing the decal will destroy it and will not allow for re-installation.
TOOLS
-
Soap and water mixture (preferably in a spray bottle)
-
A vinyl squeegee or credit card
PREPARATION
Clean the surface using
alcohol or glass cleaner to remove any wax or dirt. Mix a solution of mild dish
soap and water in a spray bottle (a few drops of soap to a small squirt bottle
or bowl of water will be sufficient . this does not need to be an exact
mixture).
INSTALLATION
-
Wet the surface where the decal/overlay will be applied using your soap
and water solution. You do not want to soak the area, just a few sprays with a
spray bottle, or wiping with a well dampened sponge is sufficient.
-
Carefully remove the decal from the backing paper. Ensure that the
decal/overlay does not touch anything or fold over on itself as this will ruin
it. Once the decal/overlay touches a dry surface it cannot be repositioned or
moved as this will also ruin it. You may also wet the decal/overlay itself if
you would like after removing it from the backing paper.
-
Gently place the decal/overlay over the wet surface in the desired
position. The wet surface will allow you to reposition the decal if needed.
-
Allow the decal to dry, normally 10-15 minutes (it may take longer
depending on weather conditions).
-
Once you are satisfied with the placement and the decal has partially
dried, hold the decal and use the squeegee or credit card to press the decal
into place, squeezing out any remaining liquid or air bubbles. Be careful not
to let the decal move during this step.
-
After removing the remaining liquid, allow the decal to dry completely.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
-
Although the decal is now permanent, it requires several days to
completely set up. Avoid scrubbing the area around the decal for at least 5
days. Do not use a pressure washer, automatic car wash or wax during this time.
-
After the decal has setup, it is safe to use waxes and automatic car
washes.
-
When washing the decal, do not use scrapers or scrubbing pads on the
vinyl. This will scratch it and ruin the appearance. Use caution when scraping
ice or snow off the area around the decal.
-
Regular auto washing detergents should not harm the vinyl. Avoid using
any petroleum based item such as kerosene/gasoline or bug and tar removers.
